Happy New Year and a new start!

I want to thank everyone who has believed so strongly in Grateful Leadership and in The Power of Acknowledgment. Together, we are changing the world one person at a time. In order to have you ready, eager and willing to move forward with these powerful tools, I thought I would begin the New Year with a quick reminder for those who have already participated in this work, and a simple “primer” for those who want to try it out. So here you go with what I call The 5 Cs of Acknowledgment for Grateful Leadership. Try it out — it works, as you can tell from the many blog posts about people who have used it. My best wishes for a happy, productive and gratifying year ahead.

Wow, i was so excited to hear the Grateful Leadership book summary on success. It’s also one of the most powerful skills that i teach in sales and influence skills! It’s amazing how easy it is to create an opportunity to influence someone when you just simply acknowledge either who they are, what they think, what they are experiencing, or what they want. In my training i take real estate agents who are contacting families in their community who have attempted to sell their home and after 3-6-9 months the home doesn’t sell under the contract of another real estate agent. The sales training company i worked for had all these clever scripts and one liner strategies that sometimes worked, but what i really started to get present to when i was listening to the conversations and began to really hear the home owner, was when the agent simply acknowledged what the home owner went through, the challenges, the issues, the confusions, and mostly the frustration then the most challenging person would settle down and be open to suggestion when before they were not! I began to teach that “acknowledging them” was the single most powerful influence skill they could have when dealing with this prospective client. I began to recognize that acknowledging their experience, giving them recognition for what they want, and approval was the combination of tools/skills we needed.

Great message! I”m excited to hear more as i have so powerfully experienced the significant difference it makes in the sales and influence process.

BTW … it’s also one of the reasons why i left my last company.
